Abstract
Specifies requirements for handlamps and similar portable luminaires for use with tungsten filament and tubular fluorescent lamps on supply voltage up to 250 V. This Standard is reproduced from IEC 60598-2-8:2001 and has been modified for Australian/New Zealand conditions.
Scope
This section of part 2 of IEC 60598 AS/NZS 60598 specifies requirements for handlamps and similar portable luminaires which are held in the hand when used, for use with tungsten filament and tubular fluorescent lamps on supply voltages not exceeding 250 V. It is to be read in conjunction with those sections of part 1 to which reference is made.
Handlamps which can be fixed to a support by means such as a wing screw, clip or magnet, and luminaires such as those used for inspection of the interior of barrels, are within the scope of this section.
NOTE This Standard excludes electrical portable outlet devices covered in AS/NZS 3105.
