Specifies requirements for elevating work platforms as defined in AS 2549. Does not apply to passenger goods lifts, builders' hoists or fixed elevating work platforms, nor does it apply to any matter relating to firefighting or any matter relating to vehicles upon which aerial devices are mounted, except to a vehicle being, while stationary, a stable support for the aerial device. Intended for use with AS 2550.10 and AS 1418.1.

This Interim Standard specifies requirements for elevating work platforms as defined in AS 2549. It does not apply to passenger and goods lifts, work platforms, or mast climbing platforms. The insulation requirements in Clauses 1.5.10.1, 1.5.13, 1.12.5 and Appendices J, K, L, M and N apply to EWPs used in proximity to electrical networks with a system highest voltage of up to 145 kV ac. Reference should be made to IEC 61057 or ANSI/SIA A92.2 for EWPs that are designed to be used on higher system voltages. This Standard does not apply to any matter relating to firefighting equipment or to any matter relating to the vehicles upon which aerial devices are mounted, except to a vehicle which, while stationary, is a stable support for the aerial device. NOTES: 1 Alternative methods for determining compliance with this Standard are given in Appendix A. 2 For typical elevating work platforms, see Figures B1 to B5, Appendix B. 3 For typical baskets, platforms, outriggers, stabilizers and extendible axles, see Figures C1 to C11, Appendix C. 4 Appendix N provides explanatory notes on the changes to EWP insulation which have been introduced in this revision.
