Specifies the treatment and tests for the Type 7-490 grade steel. It sets out also the changeability between Types 7-490 and 7-460 grades of steel with the exception of a slightly higher carbon equivalent used on the Type 7-490 grade to achieve a higher strength.
This Standard specifies requirements for hot-rolled silicon-aluminium fully killed carbon-manganese steel plates to a maximum thickness of 150 mm for use in the construction of boilers and pressure vessels.NOTE: Guidelines to purchasers on requirements that should be specified by the purchaser and those that should be agreed to at the time of enquiry or order, or both, are given in Appendix A.
