Describes test requirements and procedures for carrying out the Vickers hardness test on metals and metal products. Installation of the testing machine, its initial and periodical calibration and its maintenance by the user are specified, and guidance is given on support of the test piece and requirements for tests on curved surfaces. Appendices tabulate hardness values for a nominal force from 9.8 N to 980 N (HV 1 to HV 100), and include detailed information on user checks and details to be recorded to enable a test report to be prepared.
