Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

Sets out requirements for measuring the Vickers hardness of metals and for the installation, calibration and maintenance of the testing machine. It also specifies requirements for the calibration of standard hardness blocks and indenters. In this edition, the testing and calibration requirements have been combined into one Standard.

Scope - (Show below) - (Hide below)

This Standard sets out methods for measuring the Vickers hardness of metals and metalproducts using forces between 9.8 N and 980 N inclusive. It does not apply for the use of forces below9.8 N. It includes requirements for the installation and calibration of the testing machine, andrecommendations for its maintenance by the user. This Standard does not apply to portable hardness testing machines.
