Provides requirements and recommendations to prevent accidents in laboratories when using equipment generating non-ionizing radiations.

This Standard deals with many of the non-ionizing radiations and associated hazards encountered in laboratories. Although the Standard specifies requirements and gives recommendations to prevent personal injury caused by these radiations, or by other hazards associated with their use, it does not contain all the relevant information dealing with usage and safety requirements for non-ionizing radiations and reference should also be made to other appropriate documents.NOTES:1 Appendix A provides a schematic arrangement of the non-ionizing electromagnetic spectrum.2 Appendix B provides advisory material dealing with optical fibre systems.3 Appendix C provides a listing of documents giving other information on non-ionizing radiations.
