Specifies grade descriptions for use with the hardwood milled products specified in AS2796.1. These are primarily appearance products.

This Standard describes four grades for products sawn or milled from hardwood.NOTES:1 The coverage by this Standard of all hardwood species does not imply their availability nor the availability of every grade in any species or species group.2 Milled timber for window frames, sashes and sills is specified in AS2047.3 Timber for furniture components is specified in AS2796.3.4 This Standard may be used as a basis for a third party product certification scheme.5 Natural colour variations are to be expected within a species. Some species exhibit only small variations while in others colour varies greatly. Differences may occur between growing regions and the age of tree may also have a significant influence. In some species, the colour of the sapwood may differ markedly from the colour of the heartwood. Such natural colour variations are not covered by this Standard.
