Lays down recommendations for the safe storage, handling and use of liquefied chlorine gas, in cylinders, drums or bulk storage vessels. The code is of particular relevance for storing chlorine gas and for the use of chlorine from containers for the treatment of large swimming pools or large chemical plants. It has been written having in mind the need for a national code to be applied where large scale treatment of waters or chemical processing for disinfection is being undertaken. Operation, maintenance, equipment requirements, safety and emergency procedures are all dealt with, together with useful appendices including first aid requirements.

This Standard sets out requirements and recommendations for the safe storage, handling and use of liquefied chlorine gas. It also includes the use of chlorine in gaseous form.
