Specifies requirements for Inergen total flooding systems utilizing an inert gas mixture consisting of 52 percent nitrogen, 40 percent argon and 8 percent carbon dioxide for use in confined spaces. It applies to single supply or distributed supply systems. This Standard was prepared as a companion document to AS 4214.1-1995.

This Standard complements AS 4214.1 and sets out requirements for total flooding fire extinguishing systems, utilising an inert gas mixture consisting of 52% nitrogen, 40% argon and 8% carbon dioxide, for use in enclosed spaces. It applies to single supply or distributed supply systems. The inert gas mixture shall be referred to as Inergen in this Standard.
