Specifies requirements for solubility in water, alkalinity, degree of foaming, sequestering ability and corrosion potential of detergents of low-, medium- or high-foaming type. Appendices provide methods for determining corrosion potential and foam level.

This Standard specifies requirements for heavy-duty alkaline detergents designed primarily for the removal of 'difficult' milk soils from stainless steel equipment in dairy factories. The type of detergent specified is suitable for the cleaning of alkali-resistant flexible connections.
