Specifies requirements for the design, construction and performance of single leaf hinged security screen doors. It does not apply to double leaf doors nor does it deal with the installation of security screen doors. It includes an appendix for the method of test for resistance to forced entry. It is intended for use by regulatory authorities and all persons concerned with the manufacture, installation and general requirements of hinged security screen doors.

This Standard specifies requirements for the design, construction and performance of hinged security screen doors (single leaf only), primarily used in residential situations.NOTES1 Double leaf doors can be constructed and tested in accordance with Appendix A and reported accordingly, in consultation with the testing authority.2 The parts of a door shall not be referred to in isolation as being the complete door, for example, the grille.3 Requirements for the installation of hinged security screen doors are set out in AS 2804, Installation of hinged security screen doors, which is currently under revision and expected to be available in parts -hinged and sliding, as joint Australian/New Zealand Standards. The effectiveness of security screen doors is dependent on the strength of the door, the adequacy of its installation in the door frame, and surrounds.
