1.1This specification defines performance-based and prescriptive-based methods of evaluating various classes of gates that are used for vehicular traffic and are to be automated.

1.2Gate types addressed in this specification include horizontal slide gates, horizontal swing gates, vertical lift gates, vertical pivot gates and overhead pivot gates.

1.3Gate types not listed in this specification will be subject to any applicable provisions contained in this specification.

1.4Automated vehicular gate systems shall comply with this specification and shall be compliant with UL 325.

1.5The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.

1.6This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
