Describes requirements for an internationally acceptable series of pyknometers for general laboratory use for determination of densities of liquids. Excludes specialized pyknometers for particular products and those not commonly used. Sufficient details to define such pyknometers should be included in International Standards describing their use. A device suitable for adjusting the liquid level in the neck of the Reischauer pyknometer is shown.
