Gives guidance on the investigation of sites where hazards from toxic, flammable, aggressive or other undesirable substances may occur and referred to as 'contaminated land'. Limited to identifying sites where contamination may occur, methods and sources for the collection of relevant historical and current information and site reconnaissance, design of sampling programmes and analytical work, collection and examination of samples and reporting and assessment of results. Covers definitions, objectives and strategy, preliminary investigation, on-site testing and sample preservation, assessment of findings and retrieval and availability of reports.
