Specifies the composition, preparation, properties and application of a standard reference elastomer (SRE) made of acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR). It is used for characterizing service fluids such as petroleum products (oils, greases, etc.), with respect to their effect on NBR seals mainly for use in hydraulic systems. The SRE is representative of peroxide-cured NBR grades resistant to ageing, when used with service fluids at continuous temperatures up to 100 degree C.
