The analytical method defined are intended for determining the total sulphur content of rubbers, rubber mixtures, elastomers, ebonite and auxiliary materials (such as accelerators and others) and of the extractable constituents to DIN 53553 exist for sulphur determination in such substances. For the maximum initial weights quoted, this is applicable to samples with a sulphur content of not less than 0.3%. In the presence of calcium carbonate and high activity silicic acid the method proposed by Schoniger (Section 8) is not applicable.
