A Withdrawn Standard is one, which is removed from sale, and its unique number can no longer be used. The Standard can be withdrawn and not replaced, or it can be withdrawn and replaced by a Standard with a different number.

The use of the 10degree standard colorimetric observer (see DIN 5033 Part 2), alongside the 2degree standard colorimetric observer, is now well established in commercial practice. Accordingly, the DIN colour system has been extended to this type of application.
