La présente Norme internationale donne des directives générales pour la conception de locaux destinés à l'analyse sensorielle de produits. Elle décrit les exigences à respecter pour l'implantation d'une installation composée d'un local d'essai, d'un local de préparation et d'un bureau, en précisant ce qui est essentiel ou bien ce qui est simplement souhaitable. La présente Norme internationale n'est pas propre à un produit ou à un type d'essai. Bien que de nombreux principes d'essai soient identiques, la présente Norme internationale ne traite pas des installations d'essai destinées à un examen spécialisé de produits dans le cadre d'applications d'inspection ou de plans de controle de la qualité en usine.
