The objective of this Standard is to provide manufacturers, importers, suppliers and users with requirements for bidets intended for use with douche spray below the rim of the bowl, and for bidettes that can be fitted with over-the-rim taps.

This Standard specifies the requirements for bidets intended for use with douche spray below the rim of the bowl, and to bidettes that can be fitted with over-the-rim taps. Bidets are not suitable for direct connection to the potable water supply as they have a submerged outlet spray unit positioned below the rim of the bidet. Bidettes with the prescribed minimum air gap measured after tapware has been fitted may be directly connected to the potable water supply.
Tapware and the relevant componentry is not covered in this Standard.
Fixture design is to provide outlet connection with waste pipes and prevent gas and odour from the sewerage system.
