1.1This practice describes techniques for planning, conducting, and analyzing the results of an interlaboratory study (ILS) with the objective of developing the precision statement of a test method. It is designed to be used in conjunction with Practice C670. The methods used in this standard are consistent with those in Practice E691.

1.2This practice is not intended for use in programs whose purpose is to develop a test method or to assess the relative variability of two or more test methods. Refer to Practice C1067 for procedures to evaluate the ruggedness of a test method.

1.3The system of units for this practice has not been specified. Dimensional quantities in the practice are presented only in examples of calculations.

1.4This standard does not purport to address all safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
