CONTAINED IN VOL. 05.05, 2015 Specifies procedures for the quantitative chemical analysis of up to 29 elements in fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalyst by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF).

1.1This guide covers several comparable procedures for the quantitative chemical analysis of up to 29 elements in fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalyst by X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRF). Additional elements may be added.

1.2This guide is applicable to fresh FCC catalyst, equilibrium FCC catalyst, spent FCC catalyst, and FCC catalyst fines.

1.3The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.

1.3.1The units of ppm (mg/kg) are used instead of wt% in Tables X2.3-X2.5 for reporting concentration of certain elements because of industry convention and because most of these elements are present at trace levels.

1.4This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

1.5This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
