Defines a method for the determination of the amount of carbon residue in the range 0.01 % (m/m) to 30.0 % m/m after evaporation and pyrolysis of an oil, in order to provide some indication of relative coke-forming tendency. Applies mainly to relatively volatile petroleum products subject to partial decomposition at atmospheric pressure.
