1.1 This British Standard specifies requirements for Hard Metal grades generally used in the manufacture of dies for cold drawing wire, bar and tube in ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys.

1.2 Special Hard Metal grades in which some or all of the cobalt is present as eta-phase or in which binder metals other than Cobalt are used, are excluded from this specification.
