Dimensions and accuracy requirements for hobs, rotary form relieved cutters and pinion type cutters for fine pitch gears of metric module to BS 4582-1. Also valid for cutters for gears to BS 978-2.

This standard specifies dimensions and accuracy requirements for the following gear cutting tools for fine pitch gears of metric module produced in accordance with the requirements of BS 4582-1.

  1. Gear hobs.
  2. Rotary form-relieved gear cutters.
  3. Pinion type cutters.

This standard may also be used for cutters for gears produced in accordance with the requirements of BS 978-2 if desired.
