A series of 11 instruments covering the range 780 to 1000 kg/m3, accurate to 0.2 kg/m3 for reference temperature of 20°C. Approved by HM Customs and Excise and complies with the requirements of EEC Directive 76/765/EEC. The associated thermometer is specified in BS 5471.

This British Standard specifies the requirements of instruments suitable for the accurate determination of the ethanol content of simple mixtures of ethanol and water. They are graduated in density (kg/m3). One class of accuracy is specified.
