Abstract - (Show below) - (Hide below)

Advises designers on incorporating into new or existing shops of all sizes and heights measures that should in the case of fire safeguard lives of the public and staff and help protect the building and its contents against fire. Covers premises classed as shops in the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963. Banks and estate agents etc are considered as offices. Includes sections on problem analysis, planning escape routes, construction and fire safety signs, engineering services and ancillary accommodation, fire protection facilities and advice and procedures in case of fire. Does not apply to buildings during the course of construction or alteration.
