Design, construction and performance.

This Part of BS 6571 specifies the requirements for the design and construction of barrier type parking control equipment in parking areas not located in a highway maintainable at public expense in respect of the following items.

  1. Rising arm parking barriers.
  2. Rising kerb or rising step parking barriers.
  3. Coin/token acceptance units to control the operation of barriers.
  4. Ticket dispensing mechanisms to control the operation of barriers.

NOTE 1. Some clauses of this Part of this British Standard may have application to the design, manufacture or operation of vehicular access control equipment of highway toll equipment.
