Gives the reliability interconnecting devices and passive components. Applied to all types of fibre-optic interconnecting devices and passive optical components. The family of types includes, but is not limited to, passive devices used for connection, branching, switching, minimization of reflection, control of power/attenuation, dispersion compensation, modulation and wavelength selection or filtering.
