The method of sampling described is used to obtain representative samples for subsequent examination. To ensure this, sampling shall always be carried out after prior consultation with the laboratory. In drawing up the scale of examinations, it shall also be taken into account that strratifications may occur in the sludge which gives rise to variations in the results of the examinations. For this reason, special attention shall be paid to the choice of adequate equipment (see clause 5) and to the details of the sampling itself (see clause 6).
