Defines the procedure test for approving a welding procedure specification for on land and offshore site butt welding of transmission pipelines under normal atmospheric conditions, to be carried out according to this standard unless extra tests are specified by the relevant application standard or contract where applicable. Specifies the conditions for executing welding procedure approval tests and validity limits of an approved welding method for all practical welding operations listed. Applicable to arc welding of steels in groups 1, 2 and 3 in accordance with CR 12187 and can be applied to other fusion welding processes if agreed between contracting parties.
