La présente partie de l'ISO 13909 spécifie les modes opératoires et les exigences pour la conception d'échantillonneurs et l'élaboration de plans d'échantillonnage pour l'échantillonnage mécanique en continu du charbon et décrit les méthodes d'échantillonnage utilisées. Elle ne concerne pas l'échantillonnage mécanique sur lots statiques, traité dans l'ISO 13909-3. L'Annexe A donne des exemples de calcul du nombre de sous-lots et du nombre de prélèvements élémentaires par sous-lot. L'Annexe B contient des exigences pour l'évaluation de l'équipement d'échantillonnage et l'Annexe C contient des informations sur le fonctionnement des échantillonneurs mécaniques.
