La présente norme définit les caractéristiques et les spécifications du chlorure de sodium solide utilisé comme fondant routier, appelé ci-après produit, pour assurer le service hivernal. Elle fixe les méthodes d'essais permettant de les controler. Comme tous les produits utilisés en service hivernal, le chlorure de sodium utilisé comme fondant routier devra satisfaire, en sus des exigences de la présente norme, aux dispositions de la norme NFP 98 181.
