Diese Norm legt Anforderungen und Prüfverfahren für gehandelte und ausgelieferte Fettsäure-Methylester (FAME, Fatty Acid Methyl Esters) für die Verwendung in Kraftfahrzeugen mit Dieselmotoren fest, entweder als Dieselkraftstoff mit einer Konzentration von 100%, oder als Blendkomponente für Dieselkraftstoff in Übereinstimmung mit den Anforderungen nach EN 590. Bei einer Konzentration von 100% ist FAME einsetzbar in Fahrzeugen mit Dieselmotoren, welche für den Einsatz von 100% FAME entwickelt oder nachträglich angepasst wurden.
