Der Zweck dieser Norm ist die Beschreibung eines Verfahrens zur Abnahme der Fahrzeuge, die auf festgelegten Strecken fahren sollen. Sie beschreibt das Verfahren zur Messung der Störströme, zur Feststellung der Anfälligkeit der Gleisfreimeldesysteme, zur Charakterisierung der Traktionsstromversorgung und zur Zulassung. Das Ergebnis des gesamten Zulassungsverfahrens ist ein strukturiertes Dokument - der Kompatibilitätsnachweis, der dokumentiert, dass alle Kompatibilitätsanforderungen erfüllt sind.
