Le présent document décrit un test utilisant le développement embryo-larvaire de bivalve marin comme outil d'évaluation de la toxicité potentielle d'une substance ou d'un échantillon aqueux. Cet essai s'applique pour des salinités comprises entre 20 et 40 pour les moules et entre 25 et 35 pour les huîtres et permet de déterminer les concentrations induisant une anomalie du développement embryo-larvaire. Cette méthode est applicable: - aux substances et préparations chimiques; - aux eaux marines et estuariennes; - aux cours d'eau et aux effluents aqueux (urbains, agricoles, industriels) sous réserve d'ajuster la salinité et/ou de limiter la dilution afin de respecter les gammes de salinités définies ci-dessus; - aux extraits aqueux de sédiments et de produits pétroliers.
