Covers dimensions, details of components, and testing of six Series 1 freight containers having a nominal external length of 3000, 6000 and 12 000 mm (10, 20 and 40 ft) and maximum gross mass of 10 160, 20 320 and 30 480 kg (10, 20 and 30 tons). In separate sections it deals with definitions; designation, dimensions and rating; design features and operational requirements; testing; and inspection and marking. Provision is made for containers with fork lift pockets; dimensions are also given for gooseneck tunnels and grappler arm lifting areas.
