Sets out a method for the determination of permanent linear and volume changes of refractories after drying, firing or reheating. The Standard is applicable to prefired and unfired refractories having either a regular or irregular shape. It is not applicable to carbon-bearing refractories or ceramic fibre products.

This Standard sets out a method for the determination of permanent linear and volumechanges of refractories after any or all of the following processes:(a) Drying.(b) Firing.(c) Reheating. This Standard is applicable to prefired and unfired refractories having either a regular orirregular shape. It is not applicable to carbon-bearing refractories, ceramic fibre products ormortars.NOTE: Refer to AS 1774.28 for ceramic fibre products and to AS 1774.22 for mortars.
