Detailed information on the selection, colour, texture and maintenance of anodized aluminium finishes and typical sampling plans which may be used for inspection purposes are also given in appendices.

This specification applies to clear and coloured anodized aluminium finishes for general purpose, decorative, and automotive applications, in which the anodic coating consists essentially of aluminium oxide. It specifies requirements for the surface treatment of the aluminium before anodizing, the thickness of the anodic oxide coating and the quality of sealing.NOTE: When ordering to the requirements of this specification, supplementary information is required. This information is set out in Appendix A.
