Specifies requirements for three types of casting, viz. white iron specified by hardness, nickel-chromium types and high chromium types for use in the power, cement, mining, quarrying and other appropriate industries. Appendices provide guidelines on purchasing castings to this Standard, and give information on recommended heat treatment.

This standard specifies requirements for the following types of abrasion-resistant white iron castings for use in the power, cement, mining, quarrying and other appropriate industries:(a) White iron specified by hardness.(b) Nickel-chromium types.(c) High chromium types.NOTES:1. No provision is made for abrasion testing (see Preface).2. Guidelines to purchasers on requirements that must be specified by the purchaser and those that must be agreed at the time of enquiry and/or order are given in Appendix A.
