Specifies construction and performance requirements for table, pedestal, wall and ceiling circulating fans and their associated regulators for household and similar use, e.g. light commercial use, for connection to single-phase a.c. supply at voltages exceeding 250 volt. It is based on IEC 385 for methods of test but gives design, packaging, marking, vibration, noise, endurance and point-of-sale information requirements not given in IEC 385. Sections are included for definitions, design and general construction, performance requirements, markings, packing, general conditions for tests and testing.

This standard applies to table, pedestal, wall and ceiling circulating fans and their associated regulators, intended for use in household or similar applications, e.g. light commercial use, and connected to a single-phase a.c. supply at voltages not exceeding 250 V. It does not apply to diaphragm-mounted fans such as ventilating fans.
