Specifies screws of two types, viz. cortical (shallow threaded) and cancellous (deep threaded). The screws are dimensionally identical with those defined in ISO 5835/1, and are required to comply with ultimate torsional strength limits derived for screws made of stainless steel.

This standard specifies requirements for metal surgical screws for bones. The screws are provided with asymmetrical threads and hexagonal socket drives.
