Provides specific recommendations for lighting for tennis where played outdoors, and applies to recreational, club, national and international levels of play. Contains recommendations for provision of appropriate background contrasts, control of glare from luminaires, provision of appropriate levels of illuminance, and uniformity of illuminance necessary throughout the playing area. Provides guidance on the selection of lighting systems and equipment, and gives a number of typical installation layouts.

This standard sets out specific recommendations for lighting for outdoor tennis. In addition, the general recommendations provided in AS 2560, Part 1 should be followed, as applicable. Recommendations for lighting for indoor tennis are provided in AS 2560, Part 2.2*.
