Specifies manufacturing tolerances for boxes made of corrugated fibreboard and estables the minimum level of quality to be expected. This covers general specifications for boxes and blanks used in non-mechanized applications and additional specifications for boxes and blanks used in the majority of mechanized forming, filling or sealing applications. The Standard does not cover special negotiated levels of quality or reduced product variability beyond that outlined in the specifications for boxes and blanks used in mechanized packaging lines.

This Standard specifies manufacturing tolerances for boxes and blanks made of corrugated fibreboard and establishes the minimum level of quality to be expected. It includes-(a) a general specification for boxes and blanks used in non-mechanized applications; and(b) additional specifications for boxes and blanks used in the majority of mechanized forming, filling or sealing applications.NOTE: The adoption of a single quality Standard, which can simultaneously satisfy the discriminating and demanding needs of the most difficult applications and the economic needs of the less demanding markets, is not possible. This Standard does not cover a special negotiated level of quality; a level that is tailored to specific applications and which may involve special processes and/or controls. Such specifications should be negotiated directly between the box maker, purchaser and machine supplier.NOTE: A special negotiated level of quality is a level of quality or reduced product variability beyond that outlined in the specification for boxes and blanks used in mechanized packaging lines.
