Provides information on the properties of ceramic tiles, fixatives and backgrounds, and assists the specifier in the selection of appropriate combinations to meet the requirements of particular installations.

This Standard deals with the various procedures involved in the selection of a ceramic tiling system. The qualities of the materials that are to be used are set out in Section 2. Section 3 sets out the information that should be considered when selecting a ceramic tiling system, Section 4 sets out the various steps that should be taken in drawing up the specification and Section 5 deals with specific situations such as chemical resistance and swimming pools.NOTES:1 Most normal residential situations are adequately covered in AS 3958.1.2 Additional information on the fixing of ceramic tiles in specialist situations, such as swimming pools, or where chemical resistance is required, may be found in BS 5385, Part 4.
