Specifies the requirements for a DVB-T compliant digital television receiver for Australia with the capability of decoding high definition and standard definition television and other services compliant with the DVB-T Standards with optional requirement for modem, datacasting, memory requirement as well as interfaces for ancillary equipment.

This Standard defines both essential and optional requirements for DVB-T compliant digital broadcast television receivers for Australia with the capability of receiving High Definition Television via terrestrial broadcasting services. Optional requirements include interactivity, datacasting services, surround sound, multi lingual and appropriate interfaces for ancillary equipment.Some interoperability guidelines for reception of DVB-Satellite and DVB-Cable transmissions are also included. Requirements for Datacasting, DVB-Satellite and DVB-Cable receivers are addressed in other parts of this Standard. Further specifications for subscription/pay services should be obtained from the operators of those services.NOTE: See Appendix A for abbreviations and a glossary of terms used in this Standard.
