Specifies minimum requirements for tyre pressure gauging equipment when used to measure, inflate, control or adjust the pressure of tyres used on road vehicles.

This Standard specifies the minimum requirements for tyre pressure gauging equipment when used to measure, inflate, control, or adjust the pressure of tyres in accordance with AS 2230/NZ 5464 and ADR 23, inflated with air or nitrogen.'Gauging equipment' includes each component situated between the valve of the tyre and the air or nitrogen supply. Appendix A of this Standard sets out methods for performance testing of gauging equipment.NOTES:1 This Standard does not recommend the use of tyre-mounted pressure-indicating devices, as their readability, accuracy, reliability, and ability to withstand shock conditions are unknown.2 This Standard does not cover aircraft tyres nor gauging equipment that uses a column of mercury to determine pressure.3 Advisory information on quality of air and performance life is given in Appendix B and Appendix C.
