Intended for use in conjunction with AS/NZS 1328.1 This Standard provides detailed guidance for production of glulam. A set of stress grades is given for design purposes to simplify the use and installation of graded material. Guidelines are also provided for quality control, third party certification and for establishing structural properties.

This multi-purpose document is published as a companion document to AS/NZS 1328:Part 1. The information provided is informative, it is provided by way of advice only. It serves the following roles. It provides guidelines for the production and installation of glued laminated timber (glulam) meeting the performance requirements of AS/NZS 1328:Part 1. Although compliance with the recommendations contained herein will usually produce satisfactory glulam members, complete documentation of all processes is not possible, no warranty can be given by Standards Australia and/or Standards New Zealand that this will actually occur. It is the responsibility of the specifiers, producers and users of glulam products to select, manufacture and install the product in such a way that it meets the performance requirements of AS/NZS 1328:Part 1.It provides guidance on unified member descriptions for glued laminated timber products directed at assisting producers and users in specifying the product in an unified manner.
