This Standard specifies requirements for the post-sale safety inspection and testing of low voltage single phase and poly-phase household and similar electrical equipment. It covers electrical equipment which has been repaired or undergone service maintenance, and includes equipment for use in domestic and workplace environments. Equipment not intended for normal household use but which may be a source of danger to the public, such as equipment intended to be used by laypersons in shops, in light industry and on farms, are within the scope.

This Standard specifies requirements for the post-sale safety inspection and testing of low voltage single phase and poly-phase household and similar electrical equipment. This equipment is listed in Appendix A.AS/NZS 5762 covers electrical equipment which has been repaired or undergone service maintenance which could have affected electrical safety, and includes equipment intended for use in both domestic and workplace environments.Equipment not intended for normal household use but which nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public, such as equipment intended to be used by laymen in shops, in light industry and on farms, are within the scope of this standard.NOTE - Examples of such equipment are catering equipment, cleaning appliances for industrial andcommercial use, and appliances for hairdressers.
