CONTAINED IN VOL. 04.04, 2015 Guidelines for removing test specimens from existing built-up roofing systems in the field and for determining the approximate quantities of the components of that specimen.

1.1This practice is a guide for removing test specimens from existing built-up roofing systems in the field and for determining the approximate quantities of the components of that specimen (Note 1). Components determined may be:

1.1.1Insulation components when they are part of the roof membrane system,

1.1.2Plies of roofing felt,

1.1.3Interply layers of bituminous material,

1.1.4Top coating, and

1.1.5Surfacing.

Note 1—This procedure is for the investigation of existing roofs and is not intended for new construction inspection.

1.2This practice is applicable to both 914-mm (36-in.) and 1000-mm (39 ³/₈-in.) wide felt rolls.

1.3The values stated in SI (metric) units are to be regarded as standard.
