Gives specification and testing requirements for ISO series 1 freight containers of dry bulk, non-pressurized type, suitable for international exchange and for transport by road, rail and sea. Presents minimum requirements, because of variations in density and flow characteristics of dry bulk cargoes, containers complying with this part of ISO 1496 may not be suitable for carriage of all such cargoes. Containers for dangerous goods may be subject to additional international and national requirements. Marking requirements for these containers should comply with ISO 6346.
